The Arcade Club Cup I

The inaugural Arcade Club Cup is in the books and honestly, what a weekend.

Players travelled in from all over the UK, with some even making the trip from the good old USA, all to spend a weekend doing what fighting game communities do best: playing incredible games with incredible people.

When the dust settled, fresh off his trip to EVO Japan, GolcarJack took first place in Super Street Fighter II Turbo after an intense final against close friend Melvind0rf. Two players at the top of their game, battling it out on original hardware exactly as it should be played.

Over in Street Fighter III: Third Strike, JEWELBOX claimed the crown, overcoming one of the hardest working players in the scene, David Tamraz, in another brilliant final.

Still, the winners were only half the story. The real story was the community itself.

There was something genuinely special about this event. Two of the greatest fighting games ever made, played on their original arcade hardware, surrounded by people who care deeply about preserving the culture and spirit of the scene. It felt authentic. It felt alive. Most importantly, it just felt right.

We’re massively grateful to everybody who attended, travelled, supported, spectated, organised, and played across the weekend. Communities like this only survive because people continue showing up for them.

HUGE shout out to Jassi Singh for architecting the event, to Paul and Neil who kept things ticking all day, Tamraz for doing anything and everything at all needed to keep it moving smoothly, and to Furin Arcade for the controller mods.

Arcade Club is fully committed to supporting the fighting game community and this is only the beginning.

More events are coming soon.
